Be a part of the best youth program in Hidalgo County

About Us

The South Texas Agricultural Roundup, Inc. was founded in 2003, hosting its first annual STAR youth event on February 25-28, 2004 at Edinburg Municipal Park in Edinburg, Texas.  As part of its first event, a livestock show, premium auction, and scholarship program resulted in more than $400,000 committed to helping Hidalgo County 4-H and FFA youth prepare for their futures.

The founding board included Michael Grahmann - President, Joe Carter - President Elect, Luis H. Saldana - Secretary, Aaron Vela - Treasurer, Fernando Ramirez, Bobby Aguilar, Nelda Garza, and Sue Duleba.  The show continues to grow every year thanks to the help and dedication of the youth, parents and families, volunteers, agricultural science teachers, county Extension agents, businesses, city and county officials, and the many donors that make this event a great success.
